What do I truly need to thrive? This question inspired us to cut ties with societal norms and live in vans in the first place. This question continues to help us let go of everything that does not serve us, and design freedom into our lives. This is the question that guided every decision in the design and build of El Bussalito.

They had been living together full time in converted vehicles for more than 2.5 years. So when Shane and Delaney built El Bussalito they knew how to optimize the layout and amenities perfectly for full time living, remote working, and epic adventuring.

With its versatile layout and top of the line power and water system, Shane and Delaney could sleep comfortably in a queen sized bed, set up a workstation for both of them to do computer work at the same time, make an incredible meal in its no-compromise kitchen, use its large storage capacity to haul all their toys to the beach or mountain to go on an adventure, then enjoy a hot outdoor shower to clean off before bed.

El Bussalito was the younger and more attractive sibling of founder Shane Wright’s first live-in tiny home “The Great White Bussalo.”

Shane and his fiance Delaney lived in “El Bussalito” for most of 2020, traveling all over the west side of the united states, surfing, snowboarding, climbing, and backpacking.  All the while, working their full-time jobs out of the van, and making their co-workers very jealous.

Shane applied everything he learned from studying and working in renewable energy into building El Bussalito’s power systems and functionality,  and Delaney made sure that it was styled beautifully to bring a great vibe wherever they went.

El Bussalito has been lovingly renamed Bessie, and continues to bring joyous adventures to her new owners and all of their loved ones.
